R.N.L.I. ST IVES CELEBRATES A NEW ERA
Published in 1994, this 8 page mono and colour supplement published in The St Ives Times & Echo celebrated the official opening of the new R.N.L.I. Lifeboat House in St Ives.
The establishment of a Mersey class lifeboat in St Ives required the provision of a new boat house made possible by a bequest from Mrs Eugenie Boucher. Suprisingly, in a town with a long and valient history of lifeboat service (the first station being established in 1840), the proposed new Lifeboat House was not universally welcomed.
However, following a Public Inquiry the building went ahead. In this feature the construction is comprehensively documented, from start to finish, in a splendid photo-feature with text David Allan and photography by Tony Smith.
